Today is the 126th anniversary of the death of poet and Jesuit priest, Gerard Manley Hopkins who, a few hours before his death from typhoid at age 44, was overheard quietly repeating,
"I am so happy."
"When, when peace, will you, Peace? I'll not play hypocrite
To own my heart: I yield you do come sometimes; but
That piecemeal peace is poor peace."
